Message from the principal...
Dear Maine Lion Families~
These first couple of weeks of January have been all about revisiting our matrices throughout the building. Our expectations are posted on signs in key areas of our school. By having clear and consistent expectations, our students are better able to make positive decisions throughout their day. Our students have been working hard on our playground and lunchroom, in particular.
Maine Elementary had the honor of hosting Governor Evers during one of his statewide Budget Listening Sessions! The students and staff were busy preparing our school by highlighting all of the amazing things happening at our school! The Governor and his team were very impressed with our school and the welcome banner that all of the students signed as he entered. Wausau's own Mayor Rosenberg welcomed the Governor to our community. The Governor facilitated different topics throughout the school and recorded that feedback that our community gave him on current budget needs in our area. What an exciting opportunity to showcase our school!

January Leader in Me Focus - Habit 4 - Think Win-Win
When you think about win-win, we can also think about abundance. This means that there are enough good things in life that we can share with others.
When you think win-win there is mutual benefit. This means that more than one person can gain something positive from the experience.
Habits at Home ~ Habit 4 ~ Think Win-Win
Sit down with your family and schedule family activities for the next month or two. Plan things such as visits to family members, holiday activities, one-on-ones with family members, sports events or performances you want to watch together, and trips to the park. Make sure the Children contribute their ideas.
Have the Children help you make a visual chart to remind them of their chores and also the fun things you will do each week.
Ask each child to identify their Big Rocks—the most important things they have to do this week. This might include activities such as sports practice, music lessons, swimming, attending a friend’s birthday party, and doing homework. You can use walnuts or marshmallows for Big Rocks and jelly beans for small pebbles, or Children can bring real rocks they have found, painted, or decorated.
Visit a relative and point out the importance of valuing each member of your extended family. On the way to this relative’s home, share stories of fun and interesting moments you enjoyed with your family as you grew up.
