Spring Read-a-Thon & Book Far This Week!
We are excited to announce that it is time for the annual Tahoe Valley Elementary Read-a-Thon and Book Fair!
The Read-a-Thon has two goals:
#1- Encourage students to read and discover the joys and excitement that can be found within books. Each student will keep a Reading Log for the week and record the books/minutes they have read. There are prizes and incentives for their reading!
TK-2nd Grade– If a child reads:
10 books = They will receive a special READING RECOGNITION Badge
25 books or more = a READING MEDAL to keep for always showing their reading prowess!
3rd-5th Grade– If a child reads:
15 minutes a day (75 minutes total) = They will receive a special READING RECOGNITION Badge
30 minutes a day (2 ½ hours total) = a READING MEDAL to keep for always showing their reading prowess!
#2- Raise funds to support Tahoe Valley programs for ALL students. 100% of the money fundraised goes back to the school for field trips, assemblies, class activities, and other school sponsored events. There are prizes and incentives for students’ fundraising efforts too!
SCHOOLWIDE GOALS– If the students raise:
$2500 schoolwide = EVERY student will earn a FREE BOOK from the Book Fair.
$4000 schoolwide = Dance Party at school with Glow Sticks and an Ice Cream Party
We hope you will support and encourage your child to continue fundraising until Monday, April 25th. We do not recommend fundraising door-to-door, but rather encourage your child to contact family members, friends, co-workers, etc. Students should never fundraise without an adult present. The most important thing is student safety!
Thank you for your support, and happy READING and fundraising!
Sincerely, Tahoe Valley PTA
