Submit L1 Speaking Assignment

おはようございます。

Language Coaching Schedules Posted

Today: Click on the My Coach tab and click the link to the coaching schedule to see when you're signed up for coaching. Look for your name on the coaching schedule and see what days/time and coach you're signed up with. Write down your days, time and coach's name and keep this info somewhere safe. You'll need to know this when coaching starts next week.

If you signed up for the wrong time accidentally, or have not signed up, text or e-mail Boutin Sensei with the time/days you need ASAP so we can finalize the schedule.

Lesson 1 Speaking Assignment Due Today

Today you will submit your lesson 1 speaking assignment by going to Course Modules > Module 1 > Lesson 1 > Assignment 1.1: Speaking

Review the Grading Rubric for the assignment and make sure you include all of the criteria listed in the assignment.

To get some ideas of the kinds of things you may want to include in your speaking assignment, you might want to watch this week's video featuring Sakura and Daichi again a few times before recording your assignment.

Listen carefully to how Sakura and Daichi pronounce this week's vocabulary words - this is how you'll want them to sound like in your recording. Check out the link below. (hint, hint) ;)

Culture Discussion - General Feedback

A little elf was up late into the night grading and leaving feedback on your Culture Discussion posts. ^_^

Overall you have done well in identifying key differences in greetings and gestures used when greeting between the US and Japan. Good work!

Here are a few general things to keep in mind going forward when making Culture Discussion posts:

  1. Posts should be in paragraph/essay format
  2. Read the directions very carefully and make sure you are answering *all* questions and all components of the questions. I had to take some points off of some great posts because not all of the questions were answered in their entirety which made me very sad. :(
  3. Spelling and grammar count!! Be sure to proofread your posts before submitting
  4. You must post TWO thoughtful response posts to get full credit. One good post is not enough and posts that only say "I agree." or "Good work." do not count.

Keep these tips in mind for next week's culture discussion and you could find yourself with a perfect score next week :D
