Remember to Ask Your Campus Tech
The SISD Campus Techs are wonderful people who volunteer to help you with quick issues. They are also very good at determining which computer troubles need a little more assistance. Campus Techs have administrative access on SISD technology. If you need to install the latest update of Adobe Reader and can't wait for it to appear in Self Service, give them a shout out... and perhaps some chocolate.
Getting Software, Printers, Etc. on Your MacBook
All software, including printers, can be easily installed on your MacBook using the Self Service App. There is even a "fix" that will bypass the print administrator password, so you can install printers at home. Check out the video and gallery below to find out more.
SISD Getting Stuff on Your MacBook
If software you need is not available, email the helpdesk. We are here for you!
Printer Install - Step by Step
Step 1 - Open Launchpad
Step 2 - Click on Self Service
Step 3 - Click "Categories"
Step 4 - Install Driver
You will need to install the latest drivers. In most cases in the district that's the HP Drivers pictured. It is a large file so give it plenty of time.
Step 5 - Install the printer.
Printers are being added daily. Check back for yours.
If no luck - email the helpdesk
Where's My Computer from 1978?
Any PCs unable to support Windows 7 or later were removed from campuses and crushed over the summer. If your computer is still in your classroom then it made the cut! If for some reason you cannot find your data, please email the helpdesk. We will assist you.
On-Line Textbook Resources
ThinkCentral and myHRW have been through significant improvements on the back end. You should begin noticing things getting easier as we roll forward this year. With the updates, we are having to purge all users and upload them again. Your login may not be available until later this week. We are working with Skyward to automate the process so that new students/teachers will be updated nightly.
The SISD EdTech Basics iTunesU course will bring you up to speed on topics including using your MacBook, Instructional Tech Resources, EdTech Pedagogy and more. Resources are designed to be quick, taking only a couple minutes of your time per post. The course will be updated over the next 10 weeks, but you may access any of the resources at any time. CLICK HERE to find out more.
Updating Microsoft Office
Office frequently pops up with update notifications. We will push the updates out automatically. These should go away this week. You do not have to do anything. If you get the update notification, simply cancel and click out of it as pictured below.
