Hispanic Heritage Month
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we highlight author:
Angie Cruz is a Dominican-American author who was raised in Washing Heights. Before becoming a writer, she graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology and pursued a fashion career. While working retail, she met a famous actor who was able to get her a job on Black Entertainment Television where she started writing for the first time. Her books feature Dominican characters who are pursuing the American Dream. One of her books, Dominicana, takes place in both Washington Heights and in Tarrytown. To check out this book and more, stop by the library.
- Our Varsity Swim team had a sweeping victory against Arlington HS yesterday. The team is now 5-0. Tomorrow they will host Bronxville at the EF Pool.
- Our Varsity Field Hockey team had their first league loss yesterday against a very strong Pearl River team. Strong play by Juliette Lofreddo, Evelyn Nelson, Eliza Boozer, Ruby Wild Arons, Cate Ward, and Katie Andruss. Ava Mcvey played outstanding defense. The team is back in action this Thursday as they host Nyack at 4:30 on the turf.
- Our Varsity Boys Soccer team had a great win on the road yesterday at Walter Panas, with a score of 2-0. Shout out to goal scorers Callum Gallagher and Javi Angulo. Next up the team will travel to Hendrick Hudson on Thursday.
- Our Varsity Volleyball team played an exciting match against Panas High School yesterday. The game had lots of great rallies along with some floor pounding kills. Unfortunately, the Horsemen lost in 3 sets. Thursday the team will travel to Hendrick Hudson for their next match.
