YouTube Restricted Mode
YouTube Restricted Mode is now active for all K-12 students. While it's not 100 percent accurate, Google Restricted Mode uses community flagging, age-restrictions, and other signals to identify and filter out inappropriate content.
Students may need to login to YouTube using their district student Gmail account and network password in order to view certain videos.
Teachers with GAFE (Google Apps for Education) accounts will have Unrestricted Access (while remaining under the current web filtering umbrella).
Teachers may need to login to YouTube using their district teacher Gmail account and network password in order to view certain videos, under their expanded teacher access.
Teachers flipping classroom videos and posting to YouTube will need to create and post using their GAFE account/YouTube channel - (@students.olatheschools.com).
Teachers who currently do not have a GAFE (an email address ending in @students.olatheschools.com, our GAFE domain) will soon have a GAFE account created for their use which synchs automatically with their district network password. You will be notified when this process is complete.
Teachers who currently have a GAFE account may choose to continue to use their current GAFE account – and will not be forced to change.
For EdPuzzle users, videos may be uploaded by teachers directly to the EdPuzzle servers. Those videos should not be blocked. Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6gG7FSUvSg
