SMS Library Welcome Night

Event for New Students and Families

Join us for South Middle School's annual Library Welcome Night to kick off the 2016-2017 school year!

This event was designed especially for students and families new to SMS and the Waukee School District. Please join us for social time with the library staff and other new families, tour of our facilities, overview of services and checkout procedures, and some optional "free-time" to explore the library for yourself. You can even check out a book or two (or five!) to take home. We are excited you are here and can't wait to tell you about all of the wonderful things happening at the SMS library! Light refreshments will be provided.

According to the American Library Association, students who read independently (and choose what they read) are more likely to find success at school, specifically in areas of vocabulary and reading comprehension. Additionally, these students tend to score higher on standardized achievement tests. The SMS library staff are eager to help your learner find a "just-right" independent reading book!
