End of Semester 1!
We are officially half way through the school year! Every year is a new adventure and the school continues to grow together as a community. The goal in the end is to help students continue to develop into the best versions of themselves. Report cards and grades are just opportunities to pause and check in on the progress toward the academic portion of our development. It is a communication of the learning that has taken place and the work that has been done to demonstrate the ability to reach grade level standards.
Teachers are always open to communication about progress if there are questions before or after grades are published on the 23rd. I do encourage you check with students about possible missing work that can still be turned in this weekend. Checking Schoology with your child is a good idea if you are not sure of possible missing work.
Thank you for your partnership in learning! Have a great weekend!

Young Writer's and Artists Conference
The Young Writer's and Artist's Conference is an opportunity for students in collaboration with the South Central Service Cooperative. We have sent many students who are interested in writing and the creative arts to participate in this event. Today, flyers for registration will be sent home with students. It is an event that is available to any student grades 3-6 at Oak Crest. We will be paying for one round trip bus for students to attend, so there will be a limit on that resource for students. Parents are able to drive their own children to the event if they wish.
You must return the permission slip to reserve a spot on the bus, but have an option to register online below. It is a fun opportunity that we hope to have a good turn out for again this year!

JANUARY IS KINDNESS MONTH @ OAK CREST
TIGER TARGET (Jan 16-20) : I can make kindness a habit.
Habits are things that you do without thinking. They are automatic. We want our words, our actions, and our choices to be kind by default...but that is extremely difficult. To build a healthy habit, research says it takes a minimum of 18 days. We can't just be kind one time, or some of the time to make kindness a habit. We need to focus on kindness always, and we need to practice kindness every chance we get, and this will build our kindness muscles and create a kindness lifestyle.
