Congratulation for Obayuwana Sisters!
CCS AUTHORS RECOGNIZED AS 20 UNDER 20 AWARD WINNERS BY THE CITY OF COLUMBUS DEPARTMENT OF NEIGHBORHOODS.
Zalika, an eighth grader, and Zakiya, a sixth grader, are both students at World Language Middle School. Zahara is a fourth grader at Ecole Kenwood French Immersion. The three sisters created a storybook series called Zakira Presents! when they realized kids around them were not learning about the holidays they celebrated.
Join Us On December 15the. 5PM TO 8PM.
An evening of food, family fun, art, music, and entertainment, where you can interact with our amazing World Language department and see the incredible education we provide for our students. Tour our building, meet students, teachers, and athletes, and enjoy all our Columbus International HS community has to offer! This is an "open house" event, so visit us anytime between 5 PM - 8 PM on December 15th. We can't WAIT to see you there!

It is very important that students are in school every day
You will receive notice from the district but especially from the school. Please ensure your child comes to school every day and report any absences from school.
DID YOU KNOW...
- Students should miss no more than 9 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful, and on track to graduation.
- Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully, or facing some other difficulty.
- By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
- By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th-grade test scores.
- Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.
WLMS Family Tours
We would love to share all the great things that are happening at our World Language Middle School.
If you are interested in taking a school tour, please sign up for one of the available slots.
Tours will last about 45 minutes. Please sign up for only a one-time slot even though multiple family members may be present during the tour.

Attendance - How To Report An Absence
Every minute counts!
If you need to report an absence, please use the link below, or use the handy QR code pictured. That information goes directly to our attendance office so it can be recorded.
The form is in English but can be translated to other languages by following these steps:
Right-click on the form, then click on "Translate to English," you will see "Detected Language" at the top. Click the three dots next to the "x" and click "Choose Another Language." Click the drop-down arrow in the box and select the language you need.
Pathway Express. Destination #2
Pathway Express arrives at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium in December with FREE admission every weekend throughout the month for a celebration of holiday magic. Join families from across CCS and experience one of Central Ohio’s most cherished traditions - Wildlights.
In addition to creating memorable moments under the millions of lights and festive displays, students and families are invited to explore the incredible animal habitats home to more than 600 species from around the world.
Families are also invited to join CCS and partners for our monthly Family & Community Resources Day on December 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., and the event will feature:
Free admission to Wildlights;
Free Winter Coats for Students;
Holiday-Themed Giveaways;
New Book Bundles;
And More!
Weekly Family Engagement Sessions On Zoom
CCS hosts weekly Zoom sessions addressing the most pressing topics and answering the most common questions families have. Called Virtual Family Engagement Sessions, these sessions are hosted by the Department of Communications and Engagement and feature expert District staff and many of our community partners sharing information and insights on important topics.
Sessions are recorded so that you can watch on your own time.
Parent Portal (Infinate Campus) Access
We have a goal that 100% of our families will have active accounts for the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and complete the annual update. Why? The simple answer is that it helps improve our communication. Keeping your address, phone, numbers, and email up to date helps:
- the teachers communicate classroom information.
- ensure that you will get all school-related informational phone calls.
- ensure that everyone receives newsletters such as this one!
- the school to be able to contact you quickly in the event of an emergency.

As part of the century-old settlement house movement, CRC is a community-based social services agency that brings people together to help individuals and families build upon their strengths.
For 50 years, CRC has been making a difference in the lives of neighbors. Many lives have been improved or sustained by the services CRC provides.
