Staff Member of the Week: Ms. Geri Upp

My name is Geri Upp, and I am the Instructional Support Aide here at David Harrison Elementary. In July of 2011 after 24 years with Springfield Public Schools, I retired. I, basically, unretired to return to DHE and work for/with our principal, Mrs. Chris Parker, these teachers, staff, students and DHE parents . . . BEST SCHOOL EVER!!! When not at DHE (reliving my youth with dress-up days and assembly competitions ;), I enjoy spending my free-time with my daughter, Jenny, and grandkids, Camden, 12, and Haylee, 7. I, also, love being out with nature, walking my dogs, and riding my horse.

I feel so fortunate to be a part of the David Harrison Elementary School community - only school I would have unretired for!! DHE Rocks!

Ruff! Ruff!!

Want to Recognize a DHE Teacher/Staff Member?

Recognize an outstanding SPS employee

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond at David Harrison? Help us identify those outstanding individuals who are dedicated to ensuring we provide engaging, relevant and personal learning experiences to every child, every day. Nominate an outstanding SPS employee for special recognition.

Each time a parent submits a form we recognize that teacher/staff member at the next Celebration Assembly.

Using Legos at School? Yes, PLEASE!

Creating Stories Using Legos

In this picture you see 2nd graders who are recreating their written stories using legos. Not only do our students love this, but by using legos, they are really working on their creativity skill sets. It's a win-win for sure!

Find Us on Twitter and Facebook

Many of the DHE teachers are posting all the great activities taking place in their classrooms. If you don't already have a Twitter account, please consider creating one. It's free and easy to do. Also, our PTA has a Facebook account, and so does our school. Find both of these and "like" them to stay informed on important dates/events coming up.
