Principal's Corner: Parent Updates & Reminders
Greetings Panda Families,
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe three day weekend. Please be reminded that school is closed on Monday, February 15th, in observance of President’s Day. Additionally, I want to encourage parents to participate in the virtual Fulton County Board Meetings to stay informed with upcoming changes related to the District. The next District 6 Community Board Meeting is February 16th from 6:30 PM- 7:30 PM. Below is the link to join the meeting.

Additionally, I want to remind everyone of the new process for requesting a change in learning environment from face to face to remote learning (and vice versa).
Change of Learning Environment Hardship
All requests for changes to a student(s)’ learning environment must be submitted on the learning environment hardship form. Any changes for your child’s learning environment have to be approved by the Area Superintendent, Dr. Cherisse Campbell. Below you will find the steps to request a change in learning environment hardship.
- Parent contacts the school requesting a change of learning environment hardship.
- School provides the parent with an electronic hardship application that must be completed in its entirety by the requesting parent.
- Parent sends the completed and signed hardship form back to the school.
- The principal signs off for approval.
- The principal sends the hardships to the Area Superintendent for approval.
- Once approval is received, parents are notified of the change approval.
Parent Covid Reporting
Additionally, as I shared earlier this week via email and Class Dojo, there have been two student positive cases of Covid-19 at Brookview. Please be reminded that if you or someone in your home are exhibiting any covid related symptoms, please get tested and keep your child(ren) at home and get them tested if symptoms develop. Please also be reminded that if you or anyone in your home has been tested, are awaiting pending results, or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for Covid, parent covid reporting is required per FCS policy.
The Fulton County Board of Health and Fulton County Schools have developed an on-line portal for FCS parents/guardians to report student COVID-19 related cases. The portal can be found at www.fultonschools.org/ReportCOVID.
Please make a report to the FCBOH when your student is COVID-19 positive, has a pending COVID-19 test result, or has been in direct contact with a COVID-19 positive person. Again, if a parent or someone else in the home has tested positive for COVID-19, please DO NOT send your child(ren) to school or any school sponsored event. Please let me know if you are completing an official report to the FCBOH.
As always, I want to thank you all for staying connected to Brookview. Please stay safe, following social distancing guidelines, and wear your mask. Don’t forget to check out www.fultonschools.org, Class Dojo, and Brookview’s website for updates.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Your Principal and Partner,
Jovita G. Wallace

Fulton County Schools (FCS) in partnership with the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) is introducing a new online

Brookview Parent & Family Engagement Plan and School-Family Compacts
Greetings Parents and Families,
Attached below, you will find our school wide Parental and Family Engagement Policy, which has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in the Title I, Part A programs. This policy was adopted by Brookview Elementary School on October 2, 2020 and will be in effect for the period of 2020-2021 school year. Brookview Elementary will distribute this policy to all parents of participating Title I, Part A children on or before October 15, 2020 and will be placed on the school website.
Also attached you will find Brookview's School-Family Compact, which was jointly developed by our teachers and parents. The compact outlines the shared responsibilities of parents, students, teachers, and administrators for student academic achievement. The compact also outlines how the school and parents will develop a partnership for student success. School-Family compacts will be placed on the school website at the beginning of the year.
Please review this information with your student(s).
