Dear Stafford Elementary Community,
We have had such an exciting first month of school. We have been building relationships, teaching routines and procedures, practicing safety drills, and gathering baseline data. We are so glad to be in the swing of things now!
Welcome Mrs. Rojohn
We are so excited to announce that Mrs. Jennifer Rojohn (pronounced row-jon) started working with us this week! She has been working with students, joining staff planning and meetings, helping out at arrival and dismissal, and has been helping with student discipline. So, when you see a new face or get a phone call from Mrs. Rojohn, please be certain to say hello and welcome her!
We are so grateful for all the help Mrs. Houk has provided since the beginning of the year. She truly has been a wonderful administrative partner, and I cannot thank her enough for all she has done. However, don't think she is leaving us for good. Mrs. Houk will be back when Mrs. Rojohn's sweet baby boy is released from the hospital. Mrs. Houk will be back while Mrs. Rojohn takes some well earned maternity leave. So don't fret, we will see Mrs. Houk again!
Boosterthon
We want to thank everyone who is participating in the PTA's Boosterthon Fundraiser. The children are enjoying the lessons being taught by Jurassic Joey and the Boosterthon Team! This Friday, September 16, we will have the culminating activity - the Fun Run! Our students will be having a grand time running laps to earn funds for our school. Families are welcome to join us on the field to watch the children participate in the Fun Run; however, families must sign in at the office before coming to watch the run. Your classroom teachers will share with you the times of the run.
Back-to-School Nights
At the end of September we will be holding two Back-to-School Nights. Each evening will be broken into two sessions, which will allow parents to attend multiple teacher sessions.
- Grades K-2 - Tuesday, September 27 - Session 1 will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Session 2 will begin at 6:20 p.m.
- Grades 3-5 - Wednesday, September 28 - Session 1 will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Session 2 will begin at 6:20 p.m.
During this evening, you will attend your child's classroom to hear about the teacher's goals, expectations, and general classroom policies and procedures. Although this is not a parent/teacher conference night, it is a great time to sign up for a conference time on Monday, October 10.
We look forward to seeing everyone on one of these two nights.
No Interims this Year
This year, SCPS will not be sending home interims. We will be sending home our baseline assessment data for NWEA MAP in both reading and math for grades 2-5 on Friday, September 16. We are currently working on our Intervention Plans for any students who will be receiving Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions. Those plans will be coming home in the next week or two.
Please know that although interims are not coming home, if you have questions about your child's academic, social/emotional, and/or behavioral progress, please reach out to your child's teacher. If the teachers have concerns, they will be reaching out too. Together we will ensure our students are successful!
Right Turn Out of the Parking Lot
At the beginning of the year, Stafford County's Sheriff Department lined up the orange cones for a right turn only lane out of our school. They did this to ensure that our car rider line continues to move smoothly. We are asking that you please follow this pattern and make right turns only from the school property - especially during arrival and dismissal.
We also ask that everyone use their patience and understanding as you wait in the car rider lines. Please do not be on your cell phones when the lines are moving and pay attention to the staff directions. We do our best to keep the lines moving smoothly, and we appreciate all your help with arrival and dismissal.
Have a wonderful September, and we look forward to many wonderful activities this month!

Car Rider Arrival and Dismissal
Car Rider Drop Off will begin at 8:05 a.m. and end at 8:30 a.m.
Car rider staff open the doors at 8:05 a.m.
Children are required to be in their seats at 8:30 a.m. to start instruction.
If you arrive at 8:30 a.m. or later, you will be motioned to park your car and
to walk your students to the front office and sign them in. If there are no staff members directing traffic, this is another sign to park and bring your children into the building.
Please help us by doing the following to keep the car rider line running smoothly:
- Please follow all staff members' directions.
- Please DO NOT let the children out of the car before the staff is outside.
- Have the children ready with their backpacks on when you pull up to the sidewalk.
- Have the children get out of the car on the passenger side only.
For dismissal:
- Please help your child learn their car rider number.
- Remind children to pay attention when they are in the cafeteria listening for their numbers and names.
If you need to change your child's dismissal routine for any reason please send an email to your child's teacher and sesfrontoffice@staffordschools.net. Please do this BEFORE 2:30 p.m.
