Random Tidbits for Online Students!
Learning to Learn Online!
The most important tidbit of advice is this: ALWAYS communicate with your instructor when/if you have technical difficulties, questions about the course or assignments.
BUT you are also expected to figure things out for yourself when possible.
It's a balancing act--knowing when to figure things out for yourself and when to ask for help.
While it is normal to feel overwhelmed at the beginning, hang in there!
You will be a PRO in no time!

How to Avoid Plagiarism
Step 1 to Achieving Good Grades: Keeping Up With Deadlines!
Research shows that students who print their syllabi/course schedules are much more likely to turn in their work on time. While "electronic calendars" are the "techie" trend, sometimes paper copies of calendars are the most effective!
So print your calendar at the beginning of the term and watch your grades improve by avoiding late work penalties!
How Do I Manage My Time Effectively?
You can fall behind quickly!
Make sure you log in to your online course at least 5 days a week!
Work in a quiet space without distractions from the television, telephone, friends who want you to go out, etc.
In an online course you can work at 'odd' times of the day as long as you meet the deadlines. If you like to work late at night or early in the morning, you CAN!
Also you can work from wherever you are as long as you have a computer and an Internet connection. Take advantage of the flexibiity!
How to Effectively Study in Online Courses!
More Tips!
How do I get started in my course?
2. Get organized: Mark your calendar with important dates like due dates and exam dates.
3. Once you log in to your course, click on the "Start Here" button or read the "welcome" announcement from your instructor.
4. If your course has an "orientation" session, make sure you attend the session or view the recording for pertinent information.
5. Likely your course will have a link to "content." That link should be the starting point for the learning materials in the course.
