A message from Dr. Church

Hello Totem Falls Families,

I will continue to address what’s happening at school broadly so the community is aware of what is happening K-6. This week went very well as we added kindergarten and first graders to in person learning. I have been able to visit our remote classrooms as well where teachers are working hard to get to know their students and get their learning routines down. Next Tuesday we will have Ms. Skeen and Ms. McLatchy’s classes line up outside their classroom doors. They have been practicing this and after the long weekend, I’m sure we’ll need to remind them they are no longer lining up in the covered area. Your assistance with this will be super helpful. Kindergarten students will continue to line up in the covered area next week.

February 22nd will be a big change in the length of the student day for in person learning. K-2 students will be staying until 3:15 beginning that day. This will also be the first day of instruction in new class configurations for all third through sixth grade students. We are working hard to establish new classroom configurations based on your input and teacher choices for remote or in person teaching. For details regarding schedules, follow this link to the district Roadmap to Learning.

Boy, this has been a whirlwind. So many scheduling variables that I look forward to coming together once we are out of the transition schedule and moving into some sense of normalcy where we can build our stamina. I look forward to ending the school year strong in remote and in-person learning. Please make sure to reach out to us should you wish to be making any changes in your school choice. I suspect some changes will be taking place throughout the spring as your family’s priorities change.

Friendly reminders from the nurse

Mask requirements

Masks/face coverings need to have at least 2 layers to provide protection and meet requirements. Some “gator” type masks are only one layer of fabric and do not meet the minimum standards. Thank you.

Online Attestation done by 7:45 am

It is VERY important that you do the online attestation for each of your children. The daily symptom check email is sent to:

  • The primary email address listed under family 1 and the primary email address listed under family 2 in Skyward
  • If no one is listed under family 2 in Skyward, the Daily Symptom Check is being sent out to the primary and secondary email listed under family 1.

If family 1 would like to receive a notification to both email addresses listed under family 1 and there is an entry under family 2, family 1 has the option to select the SMS preference check mark and enter the cell phone number of the second person under family 1 while filling out the attestation.

If you do not get any emails by 5:30 am (be sure to check junk/spam) please use this link, or scan the QR code to the right, to complete a blank one and let the front office know you did not receive an email.

Below you will find helpful links to our district website on a variety of topics regarding the return to in-person school.
