Background Information: Who was William Shakespeare?
Born into a wealthy family, Shakespeare didn't have a difficult childhood. He married his wife and the mother of his three children at an estimated age of 18. After a successful career as an author and actor, William died at the age of 52. Some have assumed alcohol got the best of him, but the cause of his death has remained unknown to this day.
It's no secret that William Shakespeare was and is a successful play writer. People as famous as Abraham Lincoln were interested in his work. He is most famous for "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet", but also wrote over 36 plays and 154 poems. No original manuscripts of his work exist because he wrote them to quickly. Some of his work is displayed in his old home, which is now a museum.
