Quote of the Week

“….I firmly believe that any man’s finest hours – his greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear – is that moment when he has worked his heart out in good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.”

The Good Stuff!

Finish Strong!

Me favorite quote of all time (above) speaks to hard work, dedication and FINISHING STRONG!

Obviously, our field of battle is in the classroom. I know you work tirelessly for the good cause of a student's education. You will be exhausted. It is not easy, no matter what type of student you are working with.

Now is the time to dig deep, lean on each other for support and FINISH STRONG!

By continuing to do that, we will be able to look ourselves in the mirror and hold our heads high because we know we gave it our all. We went the extra mile when it was needed; we showed restraint when it was needed; we expressed empathy when it was needed and we displayed grit when it was needed.

That is how we FINISH STRONG! That is how we achieve our "victory"!

Awesome Video By Mike Smith

I wanted to share a great episode from The Harbor Season 2 titled Finishing Strong. As we approach the end of the school year, this is a great message for all staff and students to hear about what it means to Finish Strong and to be counting down the days left for the RIGHT reasons.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Mike Smith, he is a partner with Jostens who is unbelievably talented and has a great way of connecting with staff and students. We have sent several teachers and student groups to see him speak.

RFC Art Prize

WOW do we have some talented students! Major KUDOS to Laura Todd for organizing this school wide activity and encouraging her students to get involved. Big THANKS to Kim Blunt for creating the PowerPoint to view all the student artwork!

What a GREAT activity for our building! All students and staff should be proud of this initiative.

Cool article link below from Education Week (click button below) regarding the importance of empathy in the classroom. If you are only going to read a little bit of this, read the section titled: Modeling Empathy: It’s Difficult, But Essential

Also, there are some GREAT strategies for incorporating empathy into various subject matter.
