The SUBscriber

September 2022

Welcome!

MISD is excited to share with you our new monthly substitute newsletter. SEPTEMBER is a busy month and our campuses will need your assistance. Please be sure to log into Absence Management regularly to accept assignments. Fridays and Mondays usually have a lot of last-minute assignments - we need your assistance with accepting assignments on those days.

Please ensure that you are signing up for 5 assignments per month. This is a requirement in order to remain active in the substitute pool.

Once again, we appreciate you!

Monthly Sub Fill Rate

Every month we will share our monthly average sub fill rate. Our goal is to have at least a 90% fill rate. The higher the percentage means we have more classes being covered by our substitute teachers. We still have time to make the 90% goal for September. We appreciate you helping us achieve our goal.

Sub Hot Topic: Classroom Management

While so many grade school teachers are out on sick leave, the demand for guest teachers is at an all-time high. Let’s get real here for a moment: being a guest teacher is not an easy job, especially if you don't have significant classroom teaching experience.

So what is the best way to engage with and manage a classroom full of youth whom you likely know absolutely nothing about? Click on the link to find out!
