PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
As the first report card time approaches, teachers have sent letters home to meet with you about your child's progress. Each teacher has made an appointment calendar available - either electronically or via paper. Please remember your appointment time. We will send out reminders to help you.REPORT CARD
For report cards, LISD does electronic report cards. If you should desire a paper copy, you will need to go into SKYWARD and check the box for a paper report card. Teachers will not know if you have or have not checked the box in SKYWARD.
What are we learning?
We are working on creating stamina while reading to ourselves, reading to others and working on writing, doing poetry and working on technology. We have gone over some reading strategies for reading a book, and how to hold a book. These skills are needed as we move into a workshop environment. When the students have the skill to work independently then the teacher can move into meeting with small groups of students.
We are continuing on focusing on nouns and verbs. We are also working on sequencing stories. We have started regular reading groups. Your child should have reading books in a baggie to read on a nightly basis.
We will have a new list of sight words coming home on Monday. The words are : of, was, said, his, that. We will not have a words their way sort for this week due to short week and early release.
Social Studies- We will be working on map skills. Students will need to know use a map key and how to draw a compass rose. With the State Fair being on a good way to help our learning is to get a map from the Fair and talk about how to navigate on it. This would be a great family lesson.
Math- We are finishing our unit with exploring number 1-10. Students have mastered so much in a short period of time. In our next unit we will be learning about Base Ten-counting and skip counting, while continuing with our IPS questions. We will be sending home an IPS problem on Wednesday to work on. It will be due on THURSDAY.
