This Week at Hillcrest

Wednesday was a day filled with designing, creating, building and celebrating our Hillcrest community! On Science and Engineering Day our school was filled to capacity with Flight students who were excited to share their design challenges with Hillcrest students. That afternoon, families arrived for classroom Heart Fest celebrations. We are so thankful for all of the individuals who worked to make February 14th such a special experience for our school!

It is a reminder of how important it is for all of us to stay connected to school and close to our students. Our work as a school is to make sure all students understand that each individual is an essential part of our community and our students are cared for by many people!

Message from Mrs. Runingen for 4th Graders

During the end of February and the month of March the fourth graders will be learning how to play the soprano recorder. The recorder is a Renaissance instrument, dating back to the early 1500’s. Study of the recorder reinforces important musical concepts such as note reading, rhythm, manual dexterity, and playing in an ensemble. I will provide recorders for the students to use in the classroom. They will not be able to take these home. If you would like to purchase an instrument for them, you may order one online or purchase one at White House of Music in Waukesha. A plastic soprano recorder costs about $7.00. Please mark their recorder with their name and put it in a bag. They can leave it in their backpack so they always have it when needed for music. They may begin bringing their recorders to school starting February 26th. Contact Mrs. Runingen should you have any questions about the recorders.

SDW Focus Group - Monday Evening!

All district families are invited to attend. No RSVP is necessary. Child care will be provided, as well as a Spanish interpreter.
