Cimarron Middle School Newsletter - September 8, 2017
Colts Chronicle provides information to parents, students, staff, and community.
Principal Notes:
Dear Cimarron Family,
Thank you for your continued support of Cimarron and the Legend Feeder! This has been a great spirit week filled with fun and a sense of community. All four elementary schools were able to participate along with Cimarron in the Legend Homecoming Parade. The Legend Feeder Community recognizes and celebrates the incredible impact of positive relationships between students, teachers, and families. Thank you for partnering with all of us to make this a great learning experience for all of our students!
At Cimarron we often talk about what it means to have a “Growth Mindset”. This is a belief that values and reinforces effort, learning from mistakes, and seeking feedback. Middle school is an important time for students to develop skills of resiliency, and the understanding that our achievements are a result of our effort. As the end of the quarter draws near, please remember this as you talk with your middle schoolers about their school performance. Families can support a growth mindset in young adolescents by having conversations centered around work ethic, being kind, respectful and empathetic. Here is parent resource for Growth Mindset that might spark some interest around this subject.
Every student at Cimarron is a unique and valued member of our school. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with you in your child’s education!
Have a great weekend!
Chris Zimmerman
Parent Teacher Conferences - September 20-21
Collaboration with our parents is a vital component of student success at Cimarron Middle School. This fall, Cimarron Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on September 20-21, from 3:30-7:00pm. Two types of conferences will occur again this year - scheduled and open. Scheduled conferences will be set up by each team and elective teacher. These scheduled conferences will be held between 3:30-4:30pm. Invitations will be sent to specific families of students based on need for designated times during the scheduled conferences. If you are not contacted for a scheduled conference, you are invited to attend the open conferences. These open conferences will be held between 4:45 pm and ending at 7:00 pm. During this time, you will have the opportunity to individually meet with each teacher or team for about five minutes.
