Former Consol Tiger to report to Indians’ spring training
Former A&M Consolidated pitcher Matt Langwell has been invited to the Cleveland Indians spring training camp which starts Feb. 10 in Goodyear, Ariz.
Langwell split the 2012 season between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. He went a combined 4-0 with a 2.42 ERA in 42 relief appearances.
The 26-year-old right-hander was an 11th-round draft choice out of Rice in the 2008 amateur draft.

Consol Boys Beat Conroe
The A&M Consolidated boys basketball team clinched a playoff berth with its 52-34 victory over Conroe on Friday. Way to go tigers!
Consol Girls Basketball
The Consol Girls Basketball season came to an end on Tuesday. Thank you girls for all your hard work this season!
Consol downs Oak Ridge 18-1
The A&M Consolidated tennis team bumped its overall record to 6-7 and its district mark to 3-2 with an 18-1 victory over Oak Ridge on Friday.
Lady Tiger Soccer
A&M Consolidated goalkeeper Clare McDougall was successful in keeping The Woodlands scoreless Friday night, but the Lady Tigers couldn't net a goal as the teams drew a 0-0 tie. Consol's JV fell to the Lady Highlanders 2-0. The Lady Tigers play at 6:30 p.m. in Bryan on Tuesday.
Guzman, Drummond lead Consol in gymnastics meet
Ben Guzman finished second in the all-around competition and Maggie Drummond was third Friday in a meet hosted by A&M Consolidated and College Station.
Consol, Bryan set for regional swimming meet
A&M Consolidated's girls, with three strong relay teams, lead the local entries headed to the Class 5A Region V swimming and diving meet this weekend. Eighteen swimmers from Consol and 10 from Bryan will compete in the regional championships to be held Friday and Saturday at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah. The champions from all eight regionals will advance to the UIL State Championships in Austin, along with the eight swimmers with the next-best marks, regardless of region.
