Accessing E-Books
Materials and Access
The FPS district e-book collection houses 5,654 e-books, audiobooks, and magazines available for students and staff to check out and read. We recently added magazines to our collection and have 56 titles available. These magazine titles have simultaneous access so any user can access any title at any time. And they have two years of back issues available. We are excited to offer this new format that is so easily accessible for readers! Sora can be accessed on all student PLDs and on just about any other electronic device using the Sora app. Even older devices such as outdated phones that you may no longer use as a phone could still be used as a reading device with the Sora app. If you have a Fargo Public Library card, you can also access the public library e-book collection through your Sora account. If you have never accessed Sora before, check out these directions for how to access your school account!

Did you know . . .
From the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)
“Another study (2001) done by Gary Overton, a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at East Carolina University, in collaboration with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, of the academic performance of high school student athletes in North Carolina revealed significant differences between athletes and non- athletes. Some of the major findings in the study include:
Grade-Point Average: The mean GPA for athletes in the study was a 2.98, while the mean GPA for non-athletes was only 2.17.
Attendance: The average number of absences was significantly lower for athletes than non-athletes. The mean average number of days missed by athletes was 6.3 days per 180-day school year, as compared to 11.9 days for non-athletes.
Discipline referrals: The percentage of discipline referrals by the reporting schools was lower for the athlete group than the non-athlete group; referrals for athletes ran at a 33.3 percentage while the referral percentage for non-athletes was 41.8 percent.
Dropout rate: There was a dramatic difference in the dropout rate; the mean dropout percentage for athletes was miniscule 0.6 percent, while the corresponding percentage for non-athletes was 10.32 percent.
Graduation rate: The percentage of graduates was significantly higher for the athlete group than the non-athlete group; the mean graduation percentage for athletes was 99.4 percent as compared to 93.51 percent for non-athletes.”

Written Notification of School Accountability Report
Transparency to the Public
North Dakota is committed to informing communities about how well its schools are doing. North Dakota's future success depends on preparing students to graduate choice ready with the knowledge, skills, and desire to be successful. State education departments require accountability reports for every public school in the state. The School Accountability Report outlines how schools are performing on the elements North Dakota selected within its ESSA plan.
North Dakota has a public dashboard designed to help communities across the state access important data in K-12 districts and schools, including COVID-19 Response. Insights feature easy-to-read reports on many measures of school success, including test scores,
graduation rates, English Learner progress, student engagement results, and state accountability.
To find out information about our school, visit the dashboard at insights.nd.gov, select "Find My School", and search alphabetically. Please note, data made available to the public hides data for groups with less than 10 students to protect private information about individual students and will say "no data available".
Family Engagement
We have district plans for working to continuously improve educational programs at our schools. We would like you and your child(ren) to continue to be active in our educational system. Please help support our high expectations for student learning by participating in school initiatives, offering input and support in our educational goals to raise student achievement, and volunteering at school. Meeting our school's goals will take a united effort, and we look forward to working with families to continue the success for each student.
Continuous Improvement
Our school has completed a continuous improvement plan and it is also available on the Insights Dashboard.
