Mission Elementary
Riding the Wave of Excellence!
March 26, 2023
Spring has rolled around and just as flowers are blooming, we also see a bloom and growth in our students. They are almost a year older in their academic and social-emotional growth and it is definitely an exciting time of year!
This week we had behavior assemblies to remind students of how each of us makes Mission a great school. We talked about sportsmanship, working as a team, and being gracious as we lose or win a game. We talked about making safe and healthy choices such as not bringing caffeinated drinks to school and being kind with our words and actions. We reviewed strategies that could help us problem-solve when situations arise that may become more serious. We encouraged students to use the STOP-WALK--TALK strategy.... When students use a firm voice to say "STOP" it is a way to inform a friend that they are doing something that makes a student feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Another step is to WALK away and or TALK to an adult to get support. It is just as important in being firm when we say "STOP" as it is to respect that request. Please help us by continuing this conversation at home. Here is our parent/student handbook should you wish to use it as a resource for your conversations.

OUSD NEWS
OPD Traffic Support at all OUSD Schools
Starting this week, you may be seeing an increase in police presence around our schools. Oceanside Police Officers will go by schools during drop off and pick-ups to monitor traffic. They cannot be at every school daily but will rotate around the city. This will not be a mandatory enforcement detail but an observation, education, and last resort, enforcement. We want everyone to be safe, especially around our schools and we appreciate our partnership with OPD.
