FMS 7th Grade Newsletter: Week of October 26-October 29
Important Announcements
Conferences: Please check your email. Your child's advisory teacher sent out a Google form for you to fill out regarding how you would like us to communicate your child's progress so far this year. If you need us to resend it, please email one of us!
Please remind your child to bring a water bottle to school. We have water bottle fillers, but the water fountains are turned off.

ELA
The final draft for expository essays was due today. They have been working very hard. If they haven’t turned in their essays, please turn it in ASAP!
If you haven’t scheduled a date for FMS Fall Family Conference, please email or call your advisory teacher ASAP. The quarter ends on October 29th. Conferences end on November 13.
We will start Socratic Seminars next week.

Week at a Glance:
This week, students will continue exploring proportional relationships and will begin exploring the special proportional relationship called percentages in Unit 4: Percentages from our Open Up Resources Tasks. Important vocabulary words and sample problems are available in the Family Newsletter from Open Up Resources.
Students will continue using Edmentum ExactPath during math small group time. Please check out this resource for more about Edmentum.
Students who do not have a 3 for one of the units can continue using the Retake Agenda to practice their skills.

Social Studies
Week at a Glance:
This week students finished testing over Unit One: The First Americans. Have your child show you their data binder to see their progress. Students shared projects on historic Native American sites such as Cahokia, Machu Picchu, Cuzco, and Mesa Verde. Next week we will move to our Unit 2 Objective: European Explorers.
Learning Target for the Week:
Compare the reasons that Europeans wanted to explore and settle in the new world - explaining the similarities in the explorer's goals, and differences in the way they created settlements and treated the natives.
