Common Sense Security Practices
There are many common sense security practices you need to approach your work area. Attacks on information systems operated by small and mid-sized companies are growing rapidly and having severe impacts on business operations. Some practices you should have at work to prevent those things happening to you is to be informed what a virus is and how it works. Make sure you use strong passwords and change them often. Look out for Email attachments and internet downloads modules.
Passwords
People save and protect their files and private information by adding a password. Sometimes people get hacked by not having passwords. People who don't have passwords are letting anybody come into their files and private information. People create strong passwords by not having birthdays or your pets name. The password needs to be at least eight characters long, and it needs to have numbers included or hashtags.
Antiviruses and Malware Protection
Antiviruses and malware protection have such a significant impact on computers, and how they will function, it’s out of this world! There is also a slight difference between antiviruses and malware protection. There are many ways a computer can become infected with a virus. One of the most common forms is when a user accepts what they see on the screen without reading the prompt before proceeding. Another reason is a user downloads an infected software. A malware is very similar to a virus. Malware is a software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems. Malware may be designed to steal information or may be designed to spy on computer users for an extended period without them knowing.
Why and how you should backup your stuff up?
Backup is the procedure for making extra copies of data in case the original is lost or damage. Data loss can be a common experience to people of computer users. Data is the most important aspect of your computer. The operating system can reinstall and so can applications, but it may be difficult or impossible to recreate your original data. You always need to backup your important information. Always have a plan for recovering.
