What is Missouri Boys State?
The American Legion Boys State of Missouri program was first established in 1938 and is a statewide leadership and citizenship training program specifically developed for high school juniors who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their school. During the 8-day program, the young men experience all facets of government through a hands-on learning approach that enhances their leadership skills and helps them develop an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens.
The 2016 session will be held from June 18 - 25 on the campus of University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.
What Traits Make a Good Nominee?
- Currently in his Junior year of high school
- A keen interest in government and current events
- High moral character
- Good citizenship
- Strong leadership abilities
- Above average scholastic achievement
- Excellent communication skills
