Eagles of the Month

HVMS has begun recognizing eight students from each grade level each month to be our Eagles of the Month. Hidden Valley Middle School Eagles of the Month display outstanding behavior both inside and outside the classroom by consistently meeting HVMS SOAR expectations of being safe, organized, accountable, and respectful. Eagles of the Month demonstrate opportunity ready skills including communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and citizenship. These students exhibit a positive attitude toward their peers, school, and community, and they maintain a focus on continuous improvement.

Our Eagles of the Month for January are the following:

Just-in-Time Tutoring

Just-in-time tutoring provides students in grades 6-12 with an immediate online live tutor 24 hours per day/7 days per week. If a student is struggling with independent work, they can get immediate help to get them “unstuck,” even if they are at home late at night.

In addition to covering multiple subjects, just-in-time tutoring provides online help via chat and voice. Tutor.com also provides paper proofreading (12-hour turnaround time) and industry-leading Princeton Review ACT/SAT prep courses and materials.

An information flyer will be sent home with students this week: https://www.rcps.us/justintime

Students in Mr. Van Gerven’s 7th Grade Interest Block demonstrated Opportunity Ready Skills (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity) as they designed and engraved a gift for our school’s life counselor, Ms. Spanflener.

No Bake Bake Sale

A bit of news we have today….

A NO BAKE, Bake sale is on the way!

In these busy days, who wants to bake,

A pie, or cookies, or even a cake?

You’d be surprised if you counted the cost,

Of ingredients, heat, and the time you’ve lost.

Baking for sales is extra work,

Yet nobody really wants to shirk.

So we’ve thought of a plan that’s really grand,

And feel quite sure you’ll understand.

In a donation, please include the price,

Of a pie or cake, or anything nice!

Without fuss or bother, you’ve done your part,

We hope you’ll give with a willing heart.

Wishing HVMS success for our NO BAKE Bake Sale,

This is the end of our little tale!

All donations will be used to support the HVMS Parent Teacher Student Organization’s purpose is to strengthen, enhance, and encourage the educational and social environment at HVMS.

Donations can be made through the following link starting tomorrow through the end of February: https://hvms-no-bake-bake-sale.cheddarup.com
