2018-2019 School Year
Teachers College Reading & Writing Project (TCRWP) Resources
At the end of the school year, I was able to use the last of our budget to purchase additional TCRWP resources. 1st grade will be receiving the TCRWP Classroom Library that includes 689 books. These titles are on grade level and include Levels C-L as well as sets of Series books for levels I-L, read alouds, shared reading & poetry. This classroom library also includes TCRWP Classroom Libraries Tools & Resources Pack with Guide. I plan to purchase more of these same sets for other grade levels in the future. The cost for each grade level library is as follows:
- Kinder - $4,600
- 1st - $4,200
- 2nd - $3,800
- 3rd - $3,500
- 4th - $5,200

Student Growth Tracker will Continue
2nd-4th grade students will track all common assessments administered 3 times throughout the year. Before the 1st assessment students will write a personal SMART goal then graph it on the
Student Growth Tracker Assessment Scores and Goals sheet. Marzano’s research says that students may not realize the influence effort has on their success in school, but they can learn that effort helps them succeed. After each assessment and before they receive their grade, students will reflect on the amount of effort they put into their class and assessment. Then they will grade themselves on their effort using the Student Graph Effort & Achievement chart. After receiving their grade, they plot it next to their effort. Students can begin to look at the correlation of the effort they put into their assessments versus their achievement score. Students will complete their SMART goal for that assessment. They will explain if they reached their goal, if their choices supported their goal and what they will need to do next time in order to help reach their goal. At this time, students will create a SMART goal for the next common assessment.
Things to Consider:
Teachers will need to explain how students will use the Student Growth tracker, how to write a SMART goal, and how to fill in the Effort vs Achievement graph.
Teachers will need to explain what effort looks like and how students can use the rubric to help understand the level of their effort.
Teachers will need to help students manage these papers and understand their value.
Students can house their Growth Tracker in their binder, glued into a journal or in any other way that would facilitate the use of these documents.
Click HERE for the full presentation on how to use all of these documents.
