Believe, Achieve, Succeed!
June 6, 2021 Volume I
“The Best in the U.S.A”
Before I wrote my second to last newsletter of Volume One, I decided to read the first newsletter from Volume One. I spoke about three priorities. Ensuring a safe environment where students can receive the highest quality education possible, focusing on reading mastery, and establishing mentoring programs with neighborhood schools. We will continue with these priorities for the upcoming year, but we will also make coming to school fun for our Brothers! We want to create opportunities to celebrate and reward all of the hard work that the Brothers of The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy do every day!
Speaking of celebrations, we have celebrations planned for the next two weeks! Our annual Senior Brunch is back! It is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9th at 11:00 am. We will live stream and record the event. We will also have our 8th grade and 11th grade crossover events on June 17th! Last but not least, we have Traditions week for the last week of school! The details of the Traditions week will be sent out this week. We had to make adjustments because of the district's announcement Thursday afternoon that we will have early release.
Monday, June 13th will follow the regular 8:20 am - 4:20 pm schedule. The last 4 days of school will be early release for all students at The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy. We will have the same start time of 8:20 am, but we will dismiss at 12:50 pm. The early release schedule will be from Tuesday June 14th through Friday June 18th.
I am encouraging all interested parents to participate as much as possible next year. One of the many great ways to get involved is to serve as a PTSA member or officer! Please contact Ms. Sånchez if you are interested in joining!
We will focus on Lines 1 and 13 from our Creed for the month of June: "We are The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy." This statement begins and ends our Creed. This reinforces that the Brothers of The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy strive to live by all of the lines of our Creed.
I enjoy speaking to parents, staff and students daily about what is working and what needs to be refined. If you would like to share any feedback, please feel free to contact me by email or phone!
We are still recruiting students for the upcoming school year. Please let any families and friends know that we have space available. They can apply online by using this link.
Enrollment is open for the upcoming school year. Please enroll if you have not already completed the process. You can also earn House points for your son! All the details are on this flyer!
