February 22, 2019
We are approaching an exciting time of year!! Our students will soon host their Student Led Conferences in March!!! Teachers will send out digital signup information prior to that grade level's conferences. This is an important opportunity for our students to own their learning while showing their confidence in conferring with parents or another adult. Truly a great showing of leadership skills and pride in learning for our students! Please be on the lookout for this information.
I do want to be sure that all parents and guardians understand that Student Led Conferences are about the students. We want you to engage them in conversations about the learning they are showcasing. In no way is this a teacher-parent conference. We sponsored teacher-parent conferences at the beginning of the year and as needed after this time. Please remember that any time you have concerns, celebrations, or questions, you should directly contact your child's teacher to discuss via phone or in a person-to-person conference. Our doors are open as it takes the village to raise a child!
We are so proud of our students so let's celebrate them together during our March Student Led Conferences!
Have a GREAT weekend! Read, read, read, and remember to find time for fitness activities with your child!
Yours truly,
Jan Fickling, Principal of Midway Elementary School

COLLECTING OLD SHOES: 5th Grade Spring Service Project
Our 5th-grade spring service project is to collect old shoes. So clean out your closets and start looking under your beds for gently used shoes and turn them in to your child’s teacher or one of our collection boxes in the halls. Every pair you recycle means extra funds for CampMates, less landfill waste and the potential to connect us to a SoleMate! We are collecting shoes through the end of the school year.
