Parabola

A u-shaped curve with certain specific properties.

Quadratic

An equation, graph, or data that can be modeled by a degree 2 polynomial.

Vertex

The vertex of a parabola is the point where the parabola crosses its axis of symmetry.

Axis of Symmetry

A line through a shape so that each side is a mirror image.

Maximum Value

The maximum value of a quadratic function f(x) = ax2 + bx + c where a< 0,="" is="" the="">y- coordinate of the vertex.

Minimum Value

The minimum value of a quadratic function f(x) = ax2 + bx + c where a > 0, is the y- coordinate of the vertex.

Term

A Term is either a single number or a variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together.

First Differences

The differences of the fist column of numbers.

Second differences

The differences of the first difference.

Roots

The points where the parabola crosses the x-axis
