Importance of Estuaries
Estuaries provide economic, cultural, and ecological benefits to communities. They, most importantly, protect ecosystems by providing water filtration and habitat protection.
Threats to Core Sound
Global warming is causing sea levels to rise. There is contamination of the rivers and ocean waters. Wetlands are drained for logging and farming. Eroding shorelines and flooding threaten swamp forests.
