Discussion points:
Paint Night: January 19. Danielle Woodruff presented. This years Paint Night will be ran by Makefield mother Melissa Mack. It’s going to be a teddy bear painting. This year students and/ or parents are allowed to paint. It is no longer mandatory for parents to paint. Parents must be present at the event.
Enrichment: The next session begins January 22. Sign ups are still available. We need more students to sign up for all programs to run as planned. We need a lot more parent volunteers to help out at enrichment. If your child is signed up, please consider helping out!
Day of Service: January 15. Different from past years, Makefield Elementary School will not be open. We are asking families to make cards that will be distributed to families who go to TASK( Trenton Area Soup Kitchen). We are asking for the cards to include positive words of encouragement. There will be a mailbox outside school next week for these cards to be dropped off in.
Skate Night: February 22. This is a free event for all Makefield Families. We have rented out Philly Skate Plex. Skating is free for all, skates and foods will need to be purchased by each individual.
Valentines Day Service Project: All head classroom representatives should begin talking to the classroom teacher to see what they have planned.
Teacher Check In: It would be very helpful to check in with your classroom teacher and see if they need any supplies at this time. Teachers may need some extra snacks, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, tissues, etc.
Book Fair: February 26- March 1. Book Fair takes place during school hours in the library. All students will have a chance to shop.
Family Fun Night: This is an event February 28 where families can come out and shop the book fair. There are activities to do at the Family Fun Night and it’s a nice way to meet and spend time with other students and their families.
Bag Bingo: April 12. This is an 18 and older event. More details will come in the future. We need a lot of donations for this event! Please consider donating any unopened items that you do not need. Baskets will be made with the items donated. Gift cards are also a big item that would be amazing to donate. If you own a business or know a business owner please ask them if they would consider making a donation.
Parents Night Out: Thursday, February 15. This is a fundraiser that the Pennsbury Highschool is putting on. The students are raising money for their prom. It is an event where you drop your children off for childcare and the students watch them and do activities with them at the high school. It is $25 per child.

Makefield Community Outreach
Dear Makefield Families,
Makefield Community Outreach (formally known as the Sunshine Committee) would like to take a moment to let you know more about what we do. This program is sponsored by the MESPTO and has a mission to support teachers, students, and their families to ensure that the entire Makefield community has what they need to be successful in school. In order to reach our entire school community we would like to take this time to describe the resources that we have available this fall and winter. We will reach out again in the spring with more information about future opportunities.
If you would like to use any of the options below, please reach out to Colleen Wierzbowski cwierzbowski@pennsburysd.org. To respect the privacy of all of our community members, Colleen will be the only one to receive emails and requests. The committee will fulfill her requests, but will never know who the resources are going to.
In the Fall and throughout the year we provide:
Teachers with Back to School Gift Cards to help set up their classrooms
The Nurse with new clothes for days when kids might need to change
Daily Snacks for each classroom like pretzels or animal crackers for days when kids forget
Halloween costumes
Books for reading at home
Back to school supplies
Vouchers for Oktoberfest
Vouchers for Thanksgiving pies
Scholarships for Fall Enrichment classes and Field Trips
Gift cards for food and clothes
In the Winter we provide:
Winter coats, boots, hats, and gloves
Vouchers for students to use at the Holiday Shop and the Book Fair
Vouchers for Paint Night
Valentines
Gift cards for food for holiday breaks
Thank you for your time,
~Makefield Community Outreach
