Field Day, Baby chicks, Butterflies, OH MY!!
MAY
Thank you for contributing to Ms. Neale's parting gift. She most definitely felt appreciated! Lucky for us she will be back for Field Day and to also lend assistance while I administer end of year testing in the coming weeks. It is so hard to believe we are in our last full month of school.
Field Day is this Friday, May 5th. Coach Fisher asks that we remind you all to have your child wear their fun run shirts, apply sunscreen at home before coming to school, wear sneakers, and bring a water bottle. We will leave school for our walk to the park at 8:45. Field Day begins at 9. We will walk back at 11 for lunch in the classroom.
Today we have the 4-H Club coming for a presentation about hatching chicks in the classroom! We are excited to learn all we can from them. We are on day 8 of our eggs being in the incubator and looking forward to candling this week. This is a process that allows us to see inside the egg to tell if it is a viable chick.
We also have caterpillars in the room who are turning upside down preparing for their chrysalis stage!
Here's What We Will Be Learning This Month:
Reading
Writing
Math
Science/Social Studies
Science:
We've been tending to our milkweed and zinnias, caterpillars, and eggs! We have lots of life happening in the classroom as we continue to learn about life cycles.
We are starting our unit on Economics this month! Wants and Needs, Supply and Demand are a few of our vocabulary words that we will cover.
- I am a loved, valued, and respected remember of our classroom community.
- I take responsibility for my words and actions.
- I strive to make my community a better place.
