Principal Update
Dear Parent(s), Guardian(s), & Students,
The chill of winter is upon us. Please help remind your child to bring/wear ‘all 5’ items {coat, snow pants, gloves, hat, boots} as we go outside daily. If your child is in need of any of these winter items; please let our Counselor, Mr. Davydov know (ydavydov@mdsd.org). We also greatly appreciate kids having a spare set of shoes to wear in school during the day so boots can dry out.
As we gear up for winter and potential "Snow Days", be sure we have your most updated phone numbers/emails on file in the school office. Our automated calling system will notify you via text, phone, and/or email. For a Snow Day, the district will try to make a decision no later than 6:30 AM to activate one of these options:
- CANCEL school for the day (for all students)
- 2 HOUR DELAY (Buses pick up 2 hours later than normal which means our school day would run from 10:05-3:00.)
Enjoy the upcoming winter season and the snowy days to come!

Feedback helps us grow!
Thank you for your regular comments of things going well and things we can improve upon each month! Please keep sharing your thoughts with us each month. Here are some of your words from last month that will help us grow and learn (and many of them we have already made adjustments to!):
THINGS GOING WELL (from November):
- Love that you celebrated Halloween with a costume parade and live streamed it!
- Art! My kids love art class!
- My child is learning and improving each day.
- The food is delicious.
- Clever is so cool, because my kid can get online alone and it includes school games.
- There is so much kindness and support from all of the staff.
- BRMES just makes me smile as my kids are so happy there.
- Website is so helpful and the new app for it - way better!
UPDATE on THINGS WE COULD IMPROVE UPON (from October):
- I couldn't find the buzzer at the front door. But I love school safety as a priority! (We now have a doorbell!)
- Class sizes are getting TOO BIG.(We agree! Great news, we are in the hiring process of another teacher. No worries though we aren't going to divide up students for a new class mid year; but rather creatively support grades 3 and 4 with another team member to share.)
- More time for lunch/less lines (We made some adjustments for grades 3, 4, and 5 due to larger class sizes with options to get to lunch faster; with a smaller line; however we still can't slow down the speed they eat.)
- Improve bully / social skills / behavior education (We continue to add supports for students through our new Kinder/5th Buddy System, through our Social Emotional Learning team and Mr. D. while trying to not take away time from other 'special' classes too.)
NEW FEEDBACK on WHAT WE COULD IMPROVE UPON....(from November)
- Monitor AM drop off (We have started to brainstorm how to make morning drop off safer. We love it when all drop offs occur in the loop on the curb side. It helps greatly when everyone pulls as far forward (to the red flag) as possible. If you need to park/come inside, please do it WITH your child(ren) and be sure the cars see you before crossing/use the crosswalk. Handicapped identified vehicles are encouraged to use the bus drop off loop on the west side of the school.
