Naomi Gonzalez, Jordan Passanisi and Xitlait Padilla will be making an appearance at the State Powerlifting Meet in Corpus Christi during Spring Break.

Naomi place 2nd in her weight class, Jordan placed 1st and Xitlali placed 3rd. The Lady Warriors placed 3rd as a TEAM.

In addition, Jordan set a new bench press regional meet record in her weight class - benching 240 pounds.

The Bonham WarDancers attended the DFW Regional Dance Competition last weekend where they earned a Division I Team Trophy. In addition, their Trio won 2nd place and the Senior Ensemble placed 1st!

The Texas Farm Bureau Teacher of the Month for January was Joanne Alexander. She is a Head Start Teacher at Bailey Inglish and has served the District for the past 17 years.

The Paris Chapter Sportsmanship Award was awarded to BHS Senior Michael Crosby. Coach Hicks, as well as opposing parents and coaches, have bragged on Michael throughout the season – this award is very well deserved and has been awarded in back-to-back years to a Purple Warrior!

I put together a comprehensive State of the District for the 2021 year - from January to December 2021 - to share with the Board of Trustees, staff and the community. It showcases all the wonderful things the District IS and DOES!

The sixth section outlines curriculum and instruction.

The District pinned an information flyer to Facebook last week - I will snip parts of it to showcase each week or provide other information related to the Bonham ISD Bond 2022 project.

The proposed project will renovate and add new instructional spaces at the L.H. Rather campus.

• New classrooms for students in grades 6. The newer, upstairs portion of LHR will be completely renovated and new classrooms created.
• New classrooms for students in grades 7 and 8.
• New spaces for students in junior high - a stage for theater, choir and band performances, vo-ag classrooms and a band hall.
• To increase student safety and provide a campus where students don't have to go outside the building to eat, a cafeteria and kitchen will be built inside the main building.

Minor renovations are planned for the Robyn C. Hill Gym. We would like to provide new bleachers and include bleachers on both sides of the gym to separate fans and provide more seating space.

The renovations planned for Bailey Inglish include, but are not limited to, replacement of flooring in classrooms, halls, restrooms and kitchen, replacement of windows, replacement of exterior steps and sidewalks, installation of ramps and handrails to come into ADA compliance throughout the building, create accessible walkways to the playground, exterior renovations, a new canopy at pickup locations and replacement of exterior doors.

The renovations planned for Finley-Oates include, but are not limited to, removal of portable buildings, replacement of flooring in classrooms, halls, restrooms and kitchen, new walkway canopy at pickup location, removal of vinyl wallcovering and paint, cleaning and recoating of exterior block walls, provide accessible walkways to the playground and repair roof insulation in the gym.
