Class Party

Our class has earned a party by displaying appropriate behavior throughout the year as a class. The students voted to watch the movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day. Students may also wear PJ's and bring in a stuffed animal if they would like. I will be providing snacks, but some students were interested in bringing some as well. I asked that students just make sure they bring enough for everyone to have some if they would like to do that. Students may also bring in a drink of their choice to enjoy during the movie. We are really looking forward to it!

Young Authors

Quick! The deadline for Young Authors entries is quickly approaching. Entries are due on Friday, March 6th. Don’t miss this great opportunity to share your creativity!

Please contact Mrs. Brummer at lbrummer@district158.org with any questions you may have about entering the program.

Language Arts

This week we read a story called Navajo Code Talkers. We learned a little about World War II and the Navajo Code Talkers contribution. We enjoyed learning about this time in history!

Science

Students created a photo grid about an animal and its adaptations. Then they used an app called Clarisketch to record their voice explaining their animal and its adaptations. You can view students' work by going onto our haiku page and visiting the science link. We also began our final adaptation project this week. Students are moving their animal to a different habitat and finding ways for it to adapt to its new environment.

Math

This week we focused on adding and subtracting fractions, comparing fractions, and turning fractions into decimals. Next week we will work on ordering fractions.
