WMS Friday Forecast
January 13, 2022

Wredling Families:
We are exactly halfway done with our school year. I get excited when I walk through the classroom of Wredling and see:
Students showing they belong at WMS by making connections and building friendships
Students engaged in high levels of learning
Teachers asking higher-order questions that challenge their students to think
Students productively struggling to learn new content and skills
Students and teachers finding the joy and humor of learning together
I am proud to lead a school where we continually work to do better- academically and socially. Our staff is committed to help your child learn, grow, and achieve excellence!
On another note, final second-quarter grades are posted in Home Access Center (HAC) as of this morning. As always, the best place to monitor your student’s learning progress and grades throughout the quarter is in Schoology. While we will sync grades from Schoology to HAC on a routine basis, the grades located in Schoology are the most comprehensive indicators of your students' progress.
Enjoy your weekend-
Tim

WMS Attendance Reminder
Schools are required to follow legal guidelines for student attendance. Please help us document absences correctly by providing clear, detailed information when calling the attendance line.
Call in your child's absence daily to 331-228-3700
Speak slowly, clearly and include the following:
First and Last Name (spell name for clarity - we have a lot of students with similar names)
ID# if you have it
Specific reason for your student's absence - if they are sick, please state their symptoms
Turn in the Dr note or Dr visit summary for absence to be marked excused
Use a “Pre-Arranged Absence Form” for any planned absences of 3 days or more
WMS 8th Grade Social
Wredling Student Council is excited to be having our 8th Grade Social on January 20th from 3:40 - 5:30. All 8th graders are welcome to attend. There will be basketball, volleyball, cornhole, movie and snacks. There is no cost to this fun event. Hope to see everyone there.
Attention all Wredling Student Chefs:
If you love to cook this may be for you! The 14th annual Top Chef Cooking Contest is looking for 6th, 7th & 8th graders who love to cook and would like to showcase their cooking talent at the annual Top Chef Cooking Contest set for March 5. To learn more about the competition Mrs. Watts will host a second meeting on Monday, January 16 after school from 3:45 to 4:15 in room 405. Applications can be accessed and printed from this link or will be handed out at the January 16th meeting.
Data Dashboard
D303 Administration has worked with the Board of Education to establish a routine summary on the health of District 303 through a Data Dashboard. This chart, which will be updated monthly on the District website, provides an overview of nine important measurements in the categories of Academics, Operations and Belonging.
Eighth Grade Families:
Eighth graders, are you looking for a high school experience that offers:
the chance to join a small learning community?
a choice and voice in learning activities?
opportunities to explore career pathways?
project-based seminars with hands-on learning?
a flexible schedule with a later start or earlier end to the day?
If any of these criteria match your academic goals or vision for school, Compass Academy could be an excellent option for you. Compass Academy students can choose to attend either part-time or full-time at Compass, and they still have access to courses, sports, activities, and events at St. Charles East/North as well.
To learn more about Compass, please attend the Open House on January 17th from 6:30-8:00 pm. This brief information video may also provide helpful information.
If you are unable to attend the Open House but would like to attend a tour at Compass, please complete this form and someone from Compass will contact you soon.
