The first documented celebration of Christmas was here, on December 25th 336 A.D, under the rule of Emperor Constantine, which 2 years before he had made him son a Caesar.

December 24th-25th 1916

In 1914, the British and the German troops were in the midst of World War I, and on Christmas Eve, they all dropped there guns and just ate dinner together for a Truce, to celebrate the holidays. and after all the losses in the battles of Somme and Verdun.
