Spring Forward
Spring Break
Students in Northside ISD will celebrate spring break from March 9-13. This is a great opportunity to grab some well-needed rest. It may also be time that allows you to reconnect and strengthen relationships by creating memories with your family.
If you're looking for free and not-so-expensive things to do in the San Antonio area, click on the link below. Enjoy your time, and remember to return on March 16 will a sense of "We Got This!"
Transition to Middle School: 5th to 6th
It is important for parents to know that students may not be guaranteed their elective choices due to the number of requests, classroom caps, and scheduling conflicts due to enrollment in other classes such as supplemental STAAR intervention classes.
If students would like to change a specific course as listed on the letter, they are asked to submit all changes to the Neff Counseling Department via their letter by May 22, 2020. (if students are able to bring their SIGNED letter that indicates course changes by Friday, March 6, the Oak Hills Terrace counselors will deliver the paperwork to Neff MS).
Cyberbullying and Electronic Device Reminders
1. talk to your kids about the importance of staying cyber-safe; keep cell phones (and other electronic devices), passwords, and personal information private;. protect everyone from online predators and bullies.
2. become familiar with networking sites; help children use privacy settings.
3. learn how to use your children's cell phones and have access to their email and other online accounts; set up and/or learn all of their passwords and screen names.
4. make sure that screen names don't reveal information about your children's real names, addresses, school, or ages.
5. remind your children to never say mean things (or send suggestive photos) to anyone online or through texting; and to never pass along mean things about others.
6. consider purchasing a monitoring system to track your children's online activity.
Helping Students Work Through Grief
The Greater San Antonio community is fortunate to be able to access the Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas. This facility welcomes families who are experiencing grief by offering peer grief support groups for children and other family members.
