What are Restorative Practices?

The new field of Restorative Practices is growing rapidly throughout the world in schools, criminal justice, business, and social services…because it works to improve behavior and relationships! This PD will integrate Restorative Practices with authentic Positive Behavior Support and with practical methods for improving academic engagement. It will strengthen your behavior management skills. It will help to bring you and your colleagues closer together around shared values of firmness, respect, and effective problem solving…all in an enjoyable and interactive 2-day session.


The training will be provided by The Christopher & Virginia Sower Center for Successful Schools www.thesowercenter.com.

Who should register? Administrators, Teachers, Counselors, Social Workers, Special Education Paras, Interventionists, Security, Truancy Officers, Secretaries and Truancy Abatement Clerks.


Cost: Free (compliments of Title II and Safe Schools Healthy Students supplemental grant funding). Participants must register.

Details:

  • Hotel: SPSD will cover the cost of the 2-day training for your hotel accommodations for the evening prior to Day 1 training and the evening of Day 1 training
  • Room Availability: A block of rooms have been reserved. Requests for specific room assignments will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. Early check-in is based on room availability. Check out time is 11:00 a.m. on Day 2. Luggage storage available until after conference ends at 4:00 p.m. on Day 2.
  • Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be catered and limited to conference attendees for both training days. Breakfast will begin at 7:15 a.m. A $20 per diem meal reimbursement will be alloted for your dinner on Day 1 of training only. Save your itemized meal receipt and attach to your travel and expense reimbursement form upon return.
  • Mileage: Travel reimbursement will be allotted to and from Boyne starting at your home address or your home school, whichever is closer in proximity to 1 Boyne Mountain Rd., Boyne Falls, MI. Must attach a MapQuest printout with your request for leave forms.
