A Message from Principal Cutone
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. It has been another fantastic week here at HES, filled with exciting activities and achievements. Our students have been actively engaged in field trips, concerts, and special projects, all while continuing to make remarkable academic progress. Let's take a moment to highlight some important updates and reminders for the upcoming weeks.
Field Day is just around the corner, and we are thrilled to provide our students with a day full of fun and friendly competition. To make this event a success, we rely on the support of our dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in lending a hand, please sign up using the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050f44adab22a6fb6-hesfield2#/. However, please note that all grown-ups who wish to volunteer at any school event, including Field Day, must have an up-to-date Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) on file in the main office. CORIs must be renewed every three years. If you are unsure about the status of your CORI, please contact the main office, and our staff will be happy to assist you.
In alignment with our wellness policy, we kindly request that snacks not be brought or shared with students during end-of-year celebrations. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in promoting a healthy and inclusive environment for all our students.
Ensuring the safety and security of our school community is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, we kindly request that all visitors to school events register at the main office upon arrival. This will help us maintain a record of everyone on school grounds and ensure a secure environment for our students and staff.
Similarly, please remember that any student dismissals during school hours must be recorded in the main office and registered on Pick Up Patrol. This process is essential to ensure the safety and accountability of our students. We appreciate your cooperation in following these procedures.
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to our amazing students, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents. Together, we have accomplished so much, and I am proud of the growth and achievements we have seen throughout the year. Let's continue to finish strong and celebrate our accomplishments.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
Sincerely,
Christie

Sinceramente, Christie

Children's Book Drive
Monomoy Early Childhood Council's third annual Chatham and Harwich Children's Book Drive is beginning soon! This year we have the same great prizes; but the duration is shortened to just 17 days, Friday June 9th - Sunday June 25th.
All four bookstores, Yellow Umbrella Books and Where the Sidewalk Ends in Chatham and Below the Brine and Reed Books in Harwichport, will be giving their shoppers a prize drawing ticket entered for each book purchased and donated to the book drive. Prizes include an off season night's stay at Chatham Bars Inn with Breakfast for two, Lunch for 4 at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club Outer Bar Grille, $100 gift certificates to each participating book store and a large bag of Chatham Candy Manor penny candy! The Prize drawing will take place Monday June 26th, 7pm, at the Chatham Anglers home baseball game . Winners do not need to be present, and prizes can be mailed to winners. Out of town donors can participate in the Book Drive by purchasing books to donate with a credit card - and their tickets will be added to the prize drawing collection.
The suggested book lists at each store represent diverse cultures, languages, genres and social emotional themes. Donated books are given to local children to keep in their home libraries, with a reminder to their parents and caregivers of the critical importance of reading aloud and often with their children.
Local non profit organizations including the Chatham Children's Fund, Harwich Children's Fund, Lower Cape WIC, Food 4 Kids, the Chatham and Harwich Elementary School guidance counselors and the Monomoy Early Childhood Family Resource Center and will distribute the books to children in need of home literacy enrichment.
Volunteers are needed to tell shoppers about the book drive , explain how it works and encourage participation. There is an online signup genius system for convenient volunteer scheduling. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904044FADAB23ABF49-2023 Rain cancels volunteer shifts, since the tables are stationed outdoors.
