Van Brunt Elementary

April Newsletter

Dear Van Brunt Families,

Welcome back!! I hope everyone had an enjoyable spring break and took some time to relax. It's hard to believe that we are gearing up for fourth quarter! The students and staff have accomplished so many great things this year and we are looking forward to more wonderful things in this last quarter. Please continue to encourage your child to do their very best every day.

Our third through sixth grade students are really working hard to show what they know on the Forward Exam. They work hard every day and this is another great way to show off their academic skills! Students are focused and taking their time. They are approaching this test and their classroom work with a growth mindset and putting forth their best effort. We are very proud of the work they do on a daily basis.

We are looking forward to a fabulous fourth quarter full of learning and fun! As always, please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.

Our 5th and 6th grade students did a wonderful job at their spring concert. Thank you to Kari Zahs and to our students for their hard work this year!

Tornado and Severe Weather

It is that time of year when we become increasingly aware of the possibility of severe weather. The week of April 17 – 21 has been designated as Severe Weather Awareness Week. The statewide tornado drill will take place at 1:45 on April 20th. Students at Van Brunt will participate in a drill at 2:15 due to our testing schedule. Prior to this time, staff will practice the tornado drill procedure with students. When a tornado warning is issued, all children and school personnel will go to a designated safe area. If the warning is given at dismissal time, we will hold all children at school until the warning has been cancelled or the storm has passed.

Congratulations to our March POPS Winners!

We are very proud of our March POPS winners and all of our students! These awesome students make positive choices every day! Congratulations and thank you for helping make Van Brunt a positive place to be!

Van Brunt Fun Run: Bookin' It For Books

Van Brunt will be hosting it's first Fun Run in September. This month information will be coming home to you in Thursday folders describing the event. It is going to be a fun-filled fundraiser for our students, staff and community! We are getting excited for it! We have an awesome group of volunteers organizing this event! You will not want to miss it!

Suspicious Behavior

We have been made aware of suspicious activity around students and schools in Beaver Dam. An individual has been approaching children and attempting to lure them into a vehicle. Our school staff has been made aware of this and will report any suspicious behavior immediately. Student and staff safety are always a priority and we will continue to be vigilant in our supervision. Please take this opportunity to speak with your child about safety and the importance of reporting suspicious behavior immediately.

Rock the Test Assembly

On Friday, March 24th students participated in an energy filled pep rally to get us excited about the Forward Exam which is a state standardized test. Students and staff dressed like rock stars because we are going to Rock this test! We want to celebrate all of the learning that has taken place at Van Brunt and encourage students to do their best each and every day!
