Weekly Updates for Oct 12 - 16

Message from the Principal

Good afternoon Jags!

Last week was very exciting as we went to Phase 3 and more students are on campus for instruction! Everyone on campus is doing a great job of following the safety guidelines. By following these expectations we are hoping to see more of you soon. All of this depends on everyone doing their part to stay safe and well during this time. We will send more information regarding Phase 4 as soon as we know when they will start.

This past week we had activities with numerous groups competing or performing. Groups involved are Cross Country, volleyball, team tennis, football, CTJ marching band, Cheer, Dance, Debate, and JROTC teams! Every week we have more groups and teams getting active with their activities and games! Please check the information below or the calendar on the CTJ webpage for information about games and activities!

This is the last week of the first nine week grading period. Please continue to work hard and keep up with your work and attendance. When you have a question, please reach out to your teacher first as they can help you directly.

October Teachers of the Month

Congrats to the CTJ October Teachers of the Month, Mrs. Kali Sanchez and Mrs. Cynthia DuBose! Mrs. Sanchez is in our Science dept and has brought a lot of expertise to our campus with regards to Distance Learning. Mrs. DuBose, our Social Studies Dean, has been busy helping promote, create, and cover Johnson events like graduation, Meet the Jags, and distributing our award winning Yearbook! Thank you both!

Attendance & Grades Reminders

We have one week left in the first nine week grading period. Please check with your child for missing work and attendance. The majority of failing grades are due to a student being 'absent' during the live session and either not logging in through Launchpad and completing the attendance check so they can get attendance credit before midnight.

Attendance: please help remind your son/daughter that they must login through Launchpad (especially during asynchronous time) and do the attendance check before midnight each day to gain attendance credit for each class. Going straight to the Zoom link because it is faster will cause attendance issues.

Grades: Please communicate with the teacher regarding blank or Missing grades. Please encourage your son/daughter to get work turned in on time.

Please encourage and check with your son/daughter that they are online live as much as possible. Skyward Family Access portal is a great place to check on their progress.

We have finished 8 weeks of the first 9 week grading period. With 1 week to go, now is the time to finish up any missing work.

We appreciate everything you are doing in these tough times and tough learning situations. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher, counselor, or administrator when needing help or when you have questions.

Phase-In 3 Requirements for students

We are in Phase 3 now. The following are requirements for each student.

  1. You may bring your own device to work online while in each of your classes.
  2. Students will be expected to wear their mask all day, except while eating in a socially distance atmosphere in the cafeteria or courtyard.
  3. Courtyard gate opens at 9 AM and the doors to go inside open at 9:45 AM.
  4. Students will go to the cafeteria for their lunchtime. Students may bring their own lunch or get their lunch in the cafeteria from a limited menu. Breakfast and lunch meals are free to all students on campus If a student wants extras or add-ons they will have to pay for them.
  5. Seating will be socially distanced.

Please understand that changes can be made as deemed necessary.
