If you are having difficulty getting internet access please check-out the following webiste. Information about Free & Reduced Internet Access for Families Comcast - https://www.internetessentials.com/covid19. It is the goal of MPCS to make learning from home as equitable as we can.
Superintendent of Public Instruction James Lane announced today that four Virginia public media stations will broadcast teacher-led classroom instruction aligned with the commonwealth’s academic standards into homes across the state beginning Monday, April 13.
The “VA TV Classroom” on-air schedule is as follows:
- K-3 instruction airs from 1-2 p.m. with Standards of Learning-aligned content provided by WHRO Public Media. “Learn to Grow with WHRO” segments will be 15 minutes in length and led by teachers.
- WETA (our local PBS station) – WETA PBS Kids: via antenna 26.3, Comcast 266, Cox 801, Verizon FiOS 472 and RCN 38
This resource is a great way to continue learning new content that is part of the Virginia Standards of Learning.
These lessons, learning activities and assignments are for review, practice and enrichment. The plans include a blend of activities that can be done either with or without access to technology. Our goal is to provide ideas to keep students engaged and learning during this time. While these activities are for review and enrichment only, we do encourage students to participate to keep their learning going! Please reach out to me or your child's teacher if you have questions about any of the learning activities or online programs.
The review and enrichment activities are designed to be completed without using technology and to be flexible to fit into all students and caregivers routines. If your child does have access to a device and the Internet, many different digital resources are available in one location on the CES At-Home Learning Links website. Be sure to check out the Weekly Weblinks, click on the button on the home page, where you will find digital resources that relate and compliment the weekly activities.
I have enjoyed seeing the pictures of student learning and would like to new pictures of our students learning at home. Please share a few with me at ann.gwynn@mpark.net. I will share them in upcoming communications.
Please stay well!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gwynn
