A Note from the Principal:
As we continue the process to prepare our students for the STAAR, we continue to adjust instructional settings and methods to ensure our scholars are well equipped to show academic growth and mastery. Thank you for partnering with us as our teachers are working relentlessly to ensure our scholars are well prepared and ready as we continue our Radical Sprint.
The CHISD Board of Trustees & Administration have called for a May 2023 bond election. Watch this short video to learn more about the Proposition on the ballot. The video can be found here. There is an opportunity this week to learn more information about the bond. A Virtual Community Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday March 28th at 6 pm. Log on to learn more about the CHISD Propositions on the May 6th ballot! The meeting will stream live on Facebook & YouTube
Please continue to partner with us as we focus on teaching and learning in healthy and safe environments. Please review previous SMORE newsletters as well as the information presented in this week's edition on measures we are taking to ensure our classrooms are fertile grounds for learning. Be sure you and your scholar are up to date on campus practices regarding dress code violations and tardies.
By now I hope everyone has had an opportunity to review communication from CHISD Superintendent Dr. Hudson about expectations and possible discipline consequences for student behavior that impedes teaching and learning. Information was first sent via email last Sunday on February 26th and there was follow-up communication via Dr. Hudson's weekly SMORE and the CHISD website. As a campus we immediately began sharing and having discussions with our scholars about the possible discipline consequences including out of school suspensions that could last up to 45 days.
A few reminders and announcements:
- Grade level assemblies were held this past Monday to reset and recharge our scholars after the spring break.
- Updated district guidance has been received and April 7th and May 26th will now be instructional days to make up for the bad weather experienced earlier this semester.
- Please be sure your scholars are bringing their Chromebooks daily as that is one reason some scholars didn't test: they did not have their district-issued Chromebook due to either it being lost, forgotten at home or a repair fee being owed.
- Teachers have made arrangements for extended day learning opportunities in the mornings and after school and many scholars are not attending despite the lack of academic growth needed. Please be sure your scholar is attending these sessions and partner with us to get them where they need to be academically.
- An email was sent to all parents and scholars on 1/03/2023 that provided the recording of the digital town hall meeting as well as new practices beginning the first day of the spring semester. Please let me know if you did not receive this important email with the recording of the meeting and I will resend it to you.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we continue to prepare our scholars for their very best.
Faithfully,
Dr. Lemons

Lunch Reminders for 2022-2023
There is no longer universal lunch for all. Scholars must now pay for lunches if they do not receive free or reduced price lunch. We encourage everyone to complete the lunch application listed below.
- Universal breakfast for all
- Lunch Application for all
- My Payments Plus for Lunch Payments
- Permenter lunch menu for the week of March 27th
- MyPayments Plus is now configured to accept payments for fees associated with ID badges. The system won't accept balances accrued before the setup, but it can accept payment on fees moving forward.
- Continue to be mindful that there is no on-campus supervision before 8:15 AM or after 4:45 PM. Please ensure your scholar is not on campus outside of those time frames in the best interest of their safety.
A Note from CHHS Athletics:
Dear Scholars and Parents:
We want to ensure all scholars have the opportunity to take part in all events across the district. To ensure scholars are admitted into all athletic events at Cedar Hill High School, all scholars must present a non-torn digital ticket and their current school ID at the student gate. Additionally, all elementary and middle school scholars must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian throughout the entirety of the game. These scholars will enter through the general admission gate. All scholars are welcome to attend and we hope they come to support all of our Longhorn scholar athletes!
