Eligibility Validation Process
The purpose of the eligibility validation process is to ensure:
• Specificity and legitimacy of the last qualifying move and qualifying
agricultural or fishing activities;
• Accuracy and completeness of the information on the COEs; and
• Only eligible migrant children were identified and encoded on TX-
NGS.
Project Smart
Project SMART 2023: Training of Trainers live sessions will be held on April 6, 2023. Information and the registration link for ESC MEP Staff was sent via email in January. Please register by March 23 and complete the asynchronous coursework prior to April 6. Any ESC MEP Staff members who need this information and did not receive the email can request it. Send email to: TEA.MEPgrants@esc20.net with the subject line: Project SMART TOT.
What You Need to Know About the AIIMS Portal
TEA and the MEP Consolidated Capacity Building Initiative team would like to invite you to a new AIIMS webinar event. At this event, learn “What You Need to Know About the AIIMS Portal”. At the end of the session, you will be able to find targeted resources and helpful information about the specific MEP program your district operates. So whether you are part of an Independent Project District, SSA Member District, or Non-Project District, you will learn how the AIIMS Portal can support you.

Free Education Resources to Share with Parents
Please encourage your migratory parents to visit the Education Resources for Parents of K-12 Migratory Children portal at txmigrantk12.net. This portal contains:
Mini-lessons,
Tip sheets,
Short videos,
Games and apps,
And interactive course modules
The portal supports students in grades K-12, and also provides
information and links to resources for out-of-school youth.
All resources on this portal are available free of charge and can be downloaded or printed right at home. Creating an account is quick, simple, and allows immediate access to the resources.

Parents and staff are invited to this national conference of about 1,500 attendees. Learn about what is happening to strengthen and improve services for migratory students at the national level.
Family/Student Resources to Share
Albert Lee Wright Scholarship
There is still time to apply to the Albert Lee Wright Memorial Migrant Scholarship. Applications must be received on or before Wednesday, March 15. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be migratory students who are high school seniors with a financial need and will be starting their first year of college or other post-secondary education. Students who are awarded this scholarship will be recognized at the 2023 National Migrant Education Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Migrant Education Program Support for Parents and Families
The AIIMS Parents and Families portal shares resources and information to support parents and families of children who qualify for the Texas MEP.
Whether you are preparing your child for kindergarten or graduation, this portal provides useful information to help you through the process. You can access this free site by visiting txmigrant.net and clicking the Migrant Education Program Support for Parents and Families title located on the left side of the screen.
