Plea to Mother Nature

Oh, foggy autumn
Swallow me whole;
Let me dissipate
Into your rain-soaked roads
And let me sink
Into your weathered leaves.
I want my colors to be muted
And my branches to be bare.
I want bonfire smoke
And loose dirt
And dying fields
And rotting logs
And forgotten puddles
And frosted gardens
And silvery webs
To fill my lungs
One last time
Before you take me under
With tangled roots
And soiled memories
Bury me deep
Deep beneath falling purity of snow
