Updates and Reminders
- Remember to take care of yourself! If you're feeling stressed or overworked, talk to us. Let us know how we can help.
- Be on the look out for CANDY! The Halloween season is upon us and with that comes lots of miniature sized candies. Feel free to confiscate! You're welcome to send the candy to the office and advise students to have a parent pick up the contraband.
- Pk-2nd grade teachers, remember that our parade is scheduled for 2:15 on Halloween. If the weather permits, the parade will take place outside the school. Please let your students and parents know that candy is not allowed. Stickers, pencils, or healthy snacks are the only acceptable items allowed for distribution. We are a "Healthy School" and have committed to promoting a junk food free environment for our students:)
- For the next few weeks culinary classes will be canceled (with the exception of 7th and 8th grade electives). If you have culinary, send your entire class to either dance or martial arts.
- Don't forget to add field trips and special events to the Master Calendar in the Main Office Additionally, inform all enrichment teachers, including Arts Partners, of your trip.
- Check the calendar in my office for formal observation dates.
After School Programming
Are you interested in teaching an after school class? Send me an email with your proposal.
Monday and Wednesday -- Sports, Fine Arts, Remediation, and ESL Support
Tuesday and Thursday -- Acceleration Programs
Friday--Clubs (Book Clubs, Patrol Gym, Science Club)
Most programs will begin the week of November 26th. Please make sure that you are able to recruit at least 12 students for your program.
Clerks Corner
Please send your lunch and medical forms to the office. When you have time, check your students cumulative files for medical or lunch forms. There have been instances of forms being placed inside the cumulative files by mistake.
Always check your Kronos. Some of our staff members have reported seeing random swipes, most likely from an employee that enters their employee ID number incorrectly. These errors can negatively impact your pay:(
Just Ask Jess
Homeroom teachers--We are re-sending Tropical Optical forms. The opticians will come to school, conduct a vision exam, and will provide free glasses for those who qualify. If you have concerns about any student's vision, I would highly recommend that you encourage them to enroll. As you get back vision consents, please place them in my mailbox.
As you begin to enter interventions for those students that are struggling, please remember to also keep some work samples, tests or quizzes, etc.... If you unsure of what you need.....Just ask Jess
ESPecially for ESPs
- Logger is a way for us to collect behavior data on students. If you have a problem with a student at any point during the day, document the behavior in Student Logger. Do you need help navigating Logger or would you like a 'refresher'? Mr. J. is your go-to person for help!
- Lunchroom and recess monitors--make sure that you keep a close eye out for candy. If a student has candy, please ask them to give it to you. Place the candy in a ziplock bag and send it to the office with the student's name written on the bag. Let the student know that a parent can pick up the candy in the main office.
Medical Exclusions
Reminder letters are going home for all students that require either a physical exam or shots. Students will receive exclusion letters if they do not provide the necessary medical forms or proof of an appointment. Exclusion letters will go out next week and noncompliant students will be excluded effective October 29th.
