Hello Fronteras Families!
A BIG thank you to Ursula Fogarty and Sara Collison for all of the time they spent organizing, setting up, and managing Go For The Gravy on Saturday! It was an outstanding event! We are very grateful to the numerous volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning and afternoon to ensure everything went smooth as silk. Our middle school students were a huge help along the outdoor 3K and 5K routes! Their cheers of support were appreciated and welcomed!
Another BIG thank you to all of our volunteers who helped with picture retakes Monday morning! Photographer Jen Avery was able to get through the group of kiddos smoothly and swiftly. Your time and support is always greatly appreciated!
Please see the flyer included in this newsletter regarding our 2-day Spanish Heritage Celebration. The school will be filled with music, dance, informational presentations, crafts, and delicious food! We look forward to working with everyone who can volunteer their time to this wonderful event! We hope to see all of our families working their way through the countries next Wednesday! Please contact your child’s teacher(s) or Sra. Taner with any questions.
Our fabulous TUNDRA calendar fundraiser packet went home today with students. Cartoonist Chad Carpenter put together an exciting incentive program for the students. As always, all school fundraising is always an option to participate. If you choose not to participate, simply return the TUNDRA folder to the front office. Thank you in advance for your support!
Don’t forget to stop by our bazaar tomorrow between 10-4pm! All vendors and baked goods will be in the gymnasium! Check out the flyer on our school’s website or contact organizer Becka Lopez at: beckalopez@hotmail.com
And lastly, THANK YOU to all of our families for believing, trusting, and investing in our school’s immersion program. Because of the support and dedication to quality from our local school board, borough assembly, Fronteras families, staff, and APC board; we are able to work, learn, and celebrate together under one roof! Every day we appreciate and revel in our great fortune. As the Thanksgiving break nears, we wish all of our families a joyful and relaxing extra-long 24th – 27th weekend!
Most Sincerely,
Mrs. Hutchins

Mat-Su Special Santa Program
The Mat-Su Special Santa is the largest gift giving program in the Valley. It started in 1997 with 90 children receiving gifts. Last Christmas the program brought toys, winter wear, books, sporting equipment and blankets to over 3,250 Valley children from 1,104 families. Now in its 20th year the program has given gifts to over 31,000 children in the Valley. Special Santa is under the umbrella of Alaska Family Services, a 501c3 Non-Profit Charity.
The magic of this program is that every donation makes a huge difference and 100% of it goes to help the families. For more information you can email at matsu_santa@yahoo.com or visit Facebook Page: Mat-Su Special Santa. Forms can be found at the front desk.
After School Enrichment Clubs
It's that time again!
The last day for second quarter After School Enrichment Clubs is Wednesday, December 21st. Third quarter After School Enrichment Clubs will start on Monday, January 9, 2017. We are looking for volunteers to lead an After School Enrichment Club once a week. Start off the new year with keeping up with your volunteer hours!
Call Ursula at 907-301-2004 or inquire at the front desk for more information!
The Struggle is Real!
Dear Parents,
Please, please.....PLEASE, tell your child when you are ordering them pizza or Subway. Better yet, please tell your child if you did NOT order them pizza or Subway. We've had an increase of some very sad and confused faces showing up at the front desk wondering why their pizza or Subway is MIA. The awesome front desk ladies reserve the right to deny being forced to be the bearers of bad news!

A Friendly Reminder
- Students should get out of vehicles on sidewalk and not into traffic. If your student needs more time to get ready before exiting the vehicle, please park
- Students should not arrive to school prior to 7:30am. Please support our school's expectation of silence in the lobby. This is a working area and needs to be quiet for our secretaries.
- We are experiencing a very high number of tardy students. Class begins sharply at 8:00am.
Library Corner
We are still looking for another parent volunteer to help with Srta. Rivera’s first grade library class on Fridays at 9:15-9:45. Class meets each week.
Several students were not able to check out books last week because they still have books out from last year. Please bring books to front desk or you can pay $7 for lost books. There's also an option of bringing in a copy of a new or used book.
Fronteras Recycles!
We would like to kick off a new recycling program in our new facility. We just need the help of a few parents and students. Our 4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to join our recycling team which involves emptying bins around the school two days a week during their recess. We are looking for parents who can come Wednesday and/or Friday to assist students on their rounds. We also need parents to help load their vehicle and take materials to the recycling center. We would like to have several parents to rotate duties. If you are interested in helping please contact Jody at babybird@mtaonline.net. We would like to start soon.
Middle School Minutes
The Classroom Economy Bills are due next week. The middle school students have to find a few extra ways to earn money or miss out on afternoon free time. For some students this will be easy, but for those without jobs it will be impossible. So don't rack up lost and found fees, middle schoolers, , just save it for the bills!
The next Market Day is in two weeks, so if you were counting that you're out of luck. Don't forget to pay your bills before November 30th, middle schoolers!
